My Thoughts
I picked up this book at Powell's Book Store in downtown Portland about four years ago. I figured it would be a good read for the plan ride home. It's written by Charles R. Cross, who has written many of biographies about musicians, including best seller Heavier Than Heaven, a book about the life of Kurt Cobaine. I've always love Jimi Hendrix's music, but wanted to know more details about his early life. It's truly amazing that he accomplished so much coming from almost nothing.
A revelation... an excellent portrait,
probably unbeatable both for its moving
depiction of this youth and thrilling rise
to fame and for its myth-busting finality.
